Summer Energy Rising
May is where everything starts to click. After April’s transition into lighter, more melodic sounds, this month fully embraces the shift into pre-summer energy. The music feels brighter, more open, and more driven by emotion and movement rather than intensity alone.
Drum & Bass still holds a strong presence, but it now leans more uplifting and melodic, built for long drives and warm nights. EDM begins to feel more festival-ready, with bigger builds, cleaner drops, and a stronger focus on atmosphere. At the same time, country and pop crossover tracks continue to rise, adding warmth, storytelling, and that unmistakable “windows down” feeling. Rock remains part of the chart as well, but like April, it evolves — less about aggression and more about emotion, anthemic choruses, and connection.
Overall, May isn’t about changing direction it’s about elevation. The sound is more confident, more polished, and more in tune with the season. Every track feels like it’s leading somewhere towards longer days, louder speakers, and the peak of summer.
This is where the energy builds. ☀️🎧🚗
🎧 Scott’s Top 40 Charts — Spring Into Summer 2026
These are the songs currently defining the transition from spring into summer. The chart blends melodic Drum & Bass, emotional rock, uplifting EDM, and country crossover energy into one evolving soundtrack built for longer days, night drives, concerts, and future summer memories.
1. Too Fast – Emily Makis
Fast-paced and full of adrenaline, this track perfectly captures your current Drum & Bass obsession. Emily Makis’ vocals glide over high-speed production, making it feel emotional and energetic at the same time. The vocals sounded perfect for a pop song while the music in the backgorund has some reggae and bass for a dancefloor DnB. I moved the song back to #1 for the second time becuase it was too good to not get tired of the song itself.
2. Power – Kanine
Pure high-octane DnB energy. This is one of the hardest-hitting tracks in the rotation and feels built for loud speakers, and having the best energy for dancefloor.
3. Teardrop (Friction & Subsonic Remix) – Hannah Boleyn, Friction & Subsonic
One of the defining songs of your spring transition. As it was #1 earlier thsi month, the Emotional vocals mixed with uplifting DnB production make this feel like a future summer anthem already in motion.

Highlights into May
As May begins, several songs from late April and early May stand out as major highlights that helped shape the sound of the month. These tracks show how the chart moved from spring energy into a stronger pre-summer direction, with Drum & Bass, EDM, rock, and country all making big moves.
The biggest story is the run of #1 songs that carried momentum into May. “The Game” by Mango started the push on April 13, followed by “Teardrop (Friction & Subsonic Remix)” by Hannah Boleyn, Friction & Subsonic on April 20. Then “Too Fast” by Emily Makis hit #1 on April 27 before “Power” by Kanine took over on May 4. That run shows how Drum & Bass became one of the strongest sounds in the chart heading toward summer.
There were also big emotional and festival-ready moments. “Rain” by FISHER peaked at #2, bringing house energy into the mix, while “Lost” by Catch Your Breath reached #3 with darker emotional rock power. Tracks like “Feel This Way” by LICIA & Solid State, “Overflow” by T & Sugah & Nu-La, and “Synchronized” by Metrik kept the melodic electronic sound alive with strong spring-to-summer momentum.
One of the biggest new additions is “In Every Life (Koven Remix)” by Audien & Koven, which brings emotional melodic Drum & Bass into the chart. It feels uplifting, cinematic, and festival-ready, making it a perfect song for late spring and early summer. Another major story in the May charts is how some songs entered after the April chart period and quickly transformed into serious Top 10 contenders. These weren’t just small new entries — they became major chart moments within only a month. “Still Do” by Anne Wilson & Cole Swindell became one of the biggest country crossover stories of the month. After entering after the April charts, it quickly climbed into the Top 10 with its warm emotional sound, strong duet chemistry, and relatable country-pop storytelling. The song helped prove that country music was becoming a bigger part of the chart as summer got closer “Breakthrough” by TIM3LIMIT & Mango had one of the most exciting rises on the electronic side. It started lower in the Top 40 but became an overnight success in the May charts, climbing all the way into the Top 10. Its cinematic build-up, progressive energy, and uplifting momentum made it feel like a true transformation song one that matched the feeling of May becoming brighter, bigger, and more summer-ready.
Country also continues to grow with songs like “You Phase” by Mitchell Tenpenny, “Can’t Sit Still” by Lainey Wilson, and “Hate How You Look” by Josh Ross. These tracks bring romance, movement, heartbreak, and storytelling into the May chart, giving the playlist that warm “windows down” feeling.
The Drum & Bass side gets stronger with “Midnight Sun” by Kanine, “Freak Of Nature” by Exception & LICIA, and “Naughty Girl” by Changing Faces & LIIA. These songs bring nighttime energy, dancefloor confidence, and bold summer momentum.
Rock also enters with serious power. “In Waves” by Three Days Grace and "Lost" by Catch Your Breath add emotional intensity, heavier vocals, and an anthem-like feeling. They balance the EDM and country songs with strength and drama.
The EDM and house side also shines with “Ocean Eyes” by TELYKAST, Frank Walker & Steerner and “touch (Disciples Remix)” by Kaskade, MKLA & Disciples. These songs bring smoother, romantic, late-night dance energy into the May charts.
